My First Year With My All Heirloom Garden

This is my second year gardening and I have decided to take on Heirloom seeds:)  I'm soo excited to see the outcome and hopefully be able to share the most delicious veggies and fruit's with family and friends, and whoever may be in need.  I would love to hear from other Heirloomers (Is Heirloomers a word or did I make that up? My definition of Heirloomers:  People who have grown Heirloomers and love them :) )

Since I have such a small gardening area I only have a few different vegetables, and a couple fruit's.. I chose my families favorites:)

Tomatoes ~ Cherokee Purple, Sweeties, and Brandywine
Peas ~ Oregon Sugar Pod
Watermelon ~ Congo
Pumpkin ~ Sugar Pie
Squash ~ Yellow Crookneck
Cucumber ~ Lemon Cucumber
Zucchini
Pepper ~ Cal Wonder Bel
Strawberries

My Little Green house a couple weeks ago

Some of my starts a couple weeks ago, they are much bigger now and in bigger pots

And future plans for Quinoa (Not real sure how Quinoa grows around here,  I don't know
any one who grows it.)

I will get some updated pictures and hopefully post this some time this week, they are growing like crazy!

"The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song. The LORD is the strength of his people, a fortress of salvation for his anointed one. Save your people and bless your inheritance; be their shepherd and carry them forever."
Psalm 28:7-9

  3. Wow! Thanks for sharing I was curious about buying seeds. All I have bought so far have been from the stores in town. I have been looking at different seed catalogues and I am excited to see what they have to offer. Can you buy heirloom seeds in the store or are they only available through the catalogues? Your seedlings look very healthy and strong and I am sure there is a really big difference in the final product.

  4. I bought all of my seeds at our local Co-op, most of the seeds are locally grown. It was soo fun going through all the different seeds at the Co-op, I'm not real big on ordering things, I'm much to impatient:)
I am amazed with how healthy my seedlings are so far, since this is my first year with starting my own seeds, I prayed over all my seeds, I think thats why they are doing soo good:)

  5. Thanks for letting me know. Co-ops don't come easy in the city. I definitely think prayer is the best fertilizer! I have a couple of catalogues coming and I will try some on line as well.
